About this deck

A small group of verbs does most of the work in Spanish. These 60 cards cover the ones you will hear every day — ser, estar, tener, ir, hacer, poder and the rest — with the English meaning on the back.

Each back also shows the yo form of the present tense in brackets, because that is where most irregular verbs first show their pattern (tengo, hago, conozco).

Use the speaker button to hear the verb, and turn on reverse cards once you can recognise them so you also practise producing them.

Study tips

  • Learn ser and estar together and note when each is used: ser for identity and traits, estar for location and states.
  • Notice the yo-form patterns: -go verbs (tengo, pongo, salgo) and -zco verbs (conozco, conduzco) come in families.
  • Make one sentence with each verb out loud; using it once beats reading it five times.
  • Reflexive verbs end in -se (llamarse). Learn them with their pronoun: me llamo.

Frequently asked questions

›Why only the infinitive and yo form?

Flashcards work best with one fact per card. Learn what the verb means first, then drill full conjugations with a separate deck in Spell or Learn mode.

›Is this Latin American or Spain Spanish?

These verbs and meanings are the same across the Spanish-speaking world. The audio uses a Spain voice by default; you can change the deck language in the editor.
