Step 1: Export the text from Quizlet
Quizlet lets you export a set you created (or one you have access to) as plain text. The menu may have moved since we wrote this, but the steps are usually:
- Open the set on Quizlet in a web browser.
- Open the ⋯ (more) menu next to the set title.
- Choose Export.
- Leave the default separators (a tab between term and definition, a new line between cards) and click Copy text.
If you don't see Export, check that you're on the website rather than the app, and check Quizlet's help pages — the option can depend on the set and your account.
Step 2: Paste it here
Paste into the box above. We detect the separators automatically, including tabs, commas, semicolons, and custom ones. If you changed the separators in Quizlet's export dialog, check the preview: it shows how each line was split. If it looks wrong, export again from Quizlet with the default Tab and New line settings.
Each line becomes one card with the term on the front and the definition on the back. You can edit any card before printing, or swap the sides if you want definitions on the front.
Step 3: Choose a layout and print
Pick a paper size (A4, Letter, Legal, or 3×5 / 4×6 / 5×8 index cards) and between 1 and 16 cards per page. For two-sided cards, choose double-sided and the flip edge your printer uses; the backs are mirrored so each answer lands behind its question.
No duplex printer? Use fold-in-half, or print fronts and backs as separate runs. For more detail, read how to print double-sided flashcards.
Images and formatting
Quizlet's text export contains text only, so images on your Quizlet cards won't come across. You can add images afterwards by pasting or dragging them into a card in our editor. Line breaks inside a definition may also need a quick check in the preview.
Keep the deck for later
Click Save to my decks to keep the cards as a deck in your browser, so you can come back and print again, study them with spaced repetition, or convert them to Anki. Nothing is uploaded — the deck lives on your device until you delete it or clear your browser data. Export a backup file if you want a copy elsewhere.
Study on screen before (or after) you print
Once your Quizlet set is pasted in, it's a normal deck here. Besides printing, you can study it with Flashcards, Learn, Test, Match, and Spell modes, or with spaced repetition review. Many people print a paper set for studying away from a screen and use the on-screen modes for a quick test the night before.
If you plan to print the same set for several people, such as a class or study group, print one test sheet first to check alignment and text size, then print the rest. Choosing fewer cards per page gives larger text; choosing more saves paper. For large vocabulary sets, 8 or 10 cards per page on A4 or Letter is a common compromise.
You can also print a side-by-side study sheet, with terms and definitions in two columns. Fold it down the middle to hide the answers and test yourself — a one-page version of the whole set.
Frequently asked questions
›Do I need a Quizlet account to export?
Exporting is a Quizlet feature, so what's available depends on Quizlet. Check Quizlet's help pages for the current rules. On our side, no account is needed.
›Can I print someone else's Quizlet set?
Only print material you have the right to use. Many shared sets are fine for personal study, but respect the creator's copyright and Quizlet's terms.
›Why is everything on one card?
The separator wasn't detected. If the cards don't split correctly, choose the separator manually (Tab and New line are Quizlet's defaults).
›Will images from Quizlet be included?
No, the text export doesn't include images. Add them in our editor after pasting.
›Is this affiliated with Quizlet?
No. We're an independent tool. Quizlet is a trademark of its owner.
