About this deck
Each card shows a common fraction on the front and its decimal and percent equivalents on the back. The set covers halves, thirds, quarters, fifths, sixths, eighths, tenths and a few useful extras such as 1/16 and 1/100.
These conversions come up constantly in middle school math, test prep, shopping discounts, recipes and tips. Knowing the main ones by heart makes estimation much faster.
Repeating decimals are written with "…" (for example 0.333…). Percents for thirds and sixths are given as mixed numbers, which is how they usually appear in textbooks.
Study tips
- Learn the unit fractions (1/2, 1/4, 1/5, 1/8, 1/10) first, then build the rest: 3/8 is three times 0.125.
- To go from decimal to percent, move the decimal point two places right: 0.375 → 37.5%.
- Pair related cards: 1/8 = 12.5% and 1/4 = 25% are one doubling apart.
- Practice in reverse too: see 62.5% and name the fraction (5/8).

Frequently asked questions
›Why is 1/3 written as 0.333… instead of 0.33?
One third is a repeating decimal; the 3s go on forever. 0.33 is a rounded value, not the exact one.
›How do I convert any fraction to a decimal?
Divide the top number by the bottom number. 5 ÷ 8 = 0.625.
›Which fractions give terminating decimals?
A fraction in lowest terms terminates only if its denominator has no prime factors other than 2 and 5, like 8, 20 or 25.
